Two mistakes were made. First, no one realized that withholding the information didn’t make the computer stop trying to read the rendezvous radar. All it did was give the computer the impossible task of trying to find a match for a meaningless angle whose sine was 0 and whose cosine was 0; and because computers do not know when tasks are impossible, they just keep trying to do what they have been told.
