Because I desperately wanted someone to love me for once. To see me as enough.
The stranger reached toward her and brushed the back of a finger down her cheek, leaving warm tingles in its wake. “Breathe, Violet.” Willow released a slow, shaky breath. He stroked her other cheek. “That’s a good girl.” Heat pooled between her thighs. Oh God.
She writhed, her body’s movements entirely out of her control. He clamped his arms around her legs and pinned her in place. When he growled against her, the sound pulsed straight to her core, and she clutched at the bedding as her hips bucked and desperate cries escaped her throat.
But she was mortal, and he’d granted her no such power over him. He never would. Whatever had happened had been a result of the sustenance she’d provided. An aftereffect of her intoxicating, ambrosial pleasure.
I want you to come undone. And then I want to do it again, and again, and again, because you have made me yearn like never before.”
“It’s different with you. I felt it the moment I saw you. I don’t know what you’ve awoken inside me, Willow, but I want you. I crave your pleasure, crave your lust, but gods, those desires are completely eclipsed by how strongly I crave you.”
“He’s adamant about us dating.” “And?” “Jamie, it’s only been a month since Eli.” “So?” “Sooo…don’t you think that’s a little fast to be jumping into another serious relationship?” “There’s not a rulebook for this kind of thing, Willow. You don’t have to go through some government-mandated mourning period for a failed relationship before you’re allowed to hook up with someone else.”
Love doesn’t come without pain. Sometimes, they really are one in the same. But you have to take that leap, Willow.
