People are in bondage to the lies they believe. That is why Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32).
Being alive and free in Christ is part of positional sanctification, which is the basis for progressive sanctification. In other words, we are not trying to become children of God, we are children of God who are becoming like Christ. Once people are established alive and free in Christ through genuine repentance and faith in God, watch them grow!
It is not the few raving demoniacs who are causing the church to be ineffective, but Satan’s subtle deception and intrusion into the lives of “normal” believers.
Until we deny ourselves that which was never meant to be ours—the role of being God in our lives—we will never be at peace with ourselves or with God, and we will never be free.
It is not what we do that determines who we are. It is who we are that determines what we do.
Apart from Christ we can do nothing (John 15:5), but that doesn’t mean we’re not supposed to do something.
The only thing big about a demon is its mouth.
“The chief condition for the working of evil spirits in a human being, apart from sin, is passivity, in exact opposition to the condition which God requires from His children for His working in them.”1
“Faith is something you decide to do, not something you feel like doing.”
And all the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of one candle.
“Forgiveness is to set a captive free, only to realize that you were the captive.”
