Some CEOs tend to fill board meetings with presentations, rather than discussions of real issues. Perhaps CEOs overestimate the untoward consequences of being overridden if a CEO takes a real issue to the board. Nor, in my experience, do many CEOs use their board members severally, as advisers in their areas of expertise. I think this a real loss.
