But when the word Christian is used to identify a process of spiritual development, it describes a life-journey in which one walks in the ways of Christ and gradually becomes more like Him in conduct and inner orientation. And this, of course, is the perspective out of which Father Jeremiah speaks when he says, “I am not yet a Christian, but I have seen them.” The key word is yet, because he intends—through his personal growth—to become one.
