Calculations show that, for general relativity to hold up, the missing stuff, called dark matter and dark energy, must amount to a whopping 95% of all matter and energy in the universe. So, there are two options here: either general relativity is wrong or current physics only understands 5% of the stuff out there while the rest is made up of something we don’t know.
