The theologians declared that Jesus was God become man. But Jesus knew that God had already become man when He first breathed the breath of life into His own image and that image became a living soul. Jesus’ idea of Himself was not that of God suddenly become man; but of man, already God’s image, becoming like unto God. Did He not pray, “Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was” (John 17:5).
