Jesus said, “God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). This is not a definition. Jesus knew that to define a thing is to limit it, and He was bent on expanding our thought of God as well as giving us a deeper insight into ourselves. He was giving a guide to direct our thoughts away from finite form, from thinking of God as a superman. Man’s dilemma is that he has become trapped in a religion of propositional theology.
