Everyone of us lives with some mental picture of a God “out there,” a God who exists above and beyond the world He made, a God “to” whom we pray and to whom we go, when we die.1 The problem has been that we have been conditioned to think of the God concept of the Old Testament. It has not been properly explained to us that the Old Testament is the story of the unfoldment of the God-idea and of the relationship of man with God.
