One of the inevitable consequences of the “gay is the new black” paradigm is the eventual elimination of religious freedom protections. Several Republicans justified their support of the “Respect for Marriage Act”—which protects same-sex marriages nationwide from federal nullification even if the U.S. Supreme Court someday overturns Obergefell—by denying this inevitable reality.
