Looking down, I find the silverware drawer pulled out between my open legs. That motherfucker distracted me and opened the goddamn silverware drawer between my spread thighs.
“Next time you decide you need help with your…situation,” he murmurs against my lips with an aching rasp. “Ask me.”
My profession took me away from home and put me on an airplane just twelve hours after my Indy came all over my leg.
“Do you have any pickup lines?” I quietly ask Ryan for no one else to hear. He shakes his head. “Nah. I’d rather pin you down than pick you up.”
My little clean freak.
“That sounds very kidnap-y of you.” “Don’t tempt me.”
“But I spend a lot of your money.” “Someone needs to.” “And I’m messy. You don’t like messy.” “I like your mess.” “And I’m needy. I have no idea how to be alone.” “Good. I don’t want you to be alone. I want you to be with me.”
Blue, you’re the most inconvenient thing that’s ever happened to me.”
His words are labored and raspy. “Eyes on me, Indy.”
“No, you don’t,” I speak for her, like a deranged caveman.
“You know, Indy. Ryan doesn’t strike me as the type of man to be loud. He might not say it, might not scream it from the rooftops, but I could bet good money that he says it without words every single day.”
“I’m sorry someone let you believe you were hard to love, because, Blue, it’s the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
“You know that jersey you’ve got with my last name on it? When you see it hanging there in your closet, let it serve as a reminder to you, that soon enough, it’ll be her last name too.”
“So only you’re allowed to hand out nicknames?” “Well, yeah, mine are good.” Blue. Ind. Baby when we’re in bed. Mrs. Shay is another I’d like to add to the list in the future.
“What do you want me to call you then?” she asks, halting us in our tracks. Cupping her cheeks, I kiss her for everyone who wants to see. “You can call me yours.”
My body will be decorated with colorful marks tomorrow, which is more than fine by me. Purple is my favorite color after all.
“He never left. The guy slept in his car, and honestly, if I were into dudes that right there would have me folding.”
“And so much fucking Blue. All I see is Blue.” Translation: All I see is you.
“No, you didn’t want your parents paying for that. You said you felt uncomfortable for someone else paying for you to start a family. Well, it’s going to be my family too, so I don’t count.”
