“I like having you sitting so close.”
“Ryan, I just caused you to get a technical foul.”
“Worth it.”
“Do you think I’m pretty?”
“Do you?”

“So, you don’t think I’m pretty, then.”
“Indy, I’m not blind, but even if I were, I’m pretty sure I could touch your face and understand just how fucking stunning you are, but it’s not the first thing I see anymore.”
Call it possessive, protective, or straight-up caveman tendencies, I don’t care. There was no part of me that would allow for that sorry excuse of a man to think he “won.” So, yeah, I kissed her to prove a point. But I also kissed her because I’d been wanting to do it for weeks now.
“Next time you decide you need help with your…situation,” he murmurs against my lips with an aching rasp. “Ask me.”
“Hey, Blue, I kind of missed talking to you for three days. Let’s not do that again.”
“Just so you know,” Rio says into my ear, loud enough to hear over the music. “I’m well aware you’re using me to make him jealous and I’m perfectly okay with that.”
“Nah. No need to be jealous when I know what’s mine. I’m the one you’re going home with.”
“Do you have any pickup lines?” I quietly ask Ryan for no one else to hear.
He shakes his head. “Nah. I’d rather pin you down than pick you up.”
“Ry.” I stop him at his door. He looks back to me, eyes desperate and begging. “Will you help me?”
His head falls back, exhaling a sigh of relief. “Fucking finally.”
“Ryan, I’m still mad at you.”
“Okay, you can be mad at me all you want while you sleep in my bed.”
“Because I like taking care of people. You, especially.” He closes the door behind him.
And I think I’d like to give the real me to Ryan if he wants it. I think he’d treat my heart with kindness.
But when Stevie called to tell me Indy was too sick to stand, I wasn’t thinking about my competition or the game at all. I was thinking about the blonde across the hall who I’d give up almost anything to take care of.
She eyes me suspiciously but doesn’t catch on to the fact her mom and I are as comfortable as we are because I’ve chatted with her parents more than a few times since I first met them over a video call in this very kitchen.
At some point, I should probably tell her that my love language is whichever one she wants it to be so she can stop guessing. I’ll make sure that girl feels loved however she needs.
“Sometimes the quietest love is the loudest,”
“I understand what I’m competing against. I know I don’t have your history, but I want your future.”
But let me make this clear, when it comes to her, I have no issue ruining my reputation. I will burn the world down to protect her and I’ll proudly wave the match, so everyone knows I’m the one who did it.”
“Why are you learning sign?”
“Dear God,” I exhale, watching him taste me.
“Who are you praying to?”
“I’m not ...

“You don’t think I know that? I haven’t seen black and white since the second you walked into my apartment. Now it’s pink-painted toes, purple clothes, green plants, and those goddamn yellow curtains.” He shakes his head. “And so much fucking Blue. All I see is Blue.”
Translation: All I see is you.
He swept my romantic heart right off her feet, and little did I know the day I moved into his apartment, that my new roommate would be the center of my happily ever after.
