“If you say ‘I’m sorry’ one more time, I’ll go to the kitchen, come back, and cut your balls off with a rusty knife. In fact, I may do that anyway. You’re a fucking asshole. I’m sorry I wasted all
this time on you, and I’m sorrier for your girlfriend. She deserves better.”
“I’ve been called a lot of things in my life, but that’s a new one.”
“So we didn’t need to introduce ourselves.” “No.” He stepped closer without releasing her hand. “But I wanted an excuse to touch you.”
“Like read depressing-ass novels?”
“I don’t expect you to understand, but this is a great love story,” Farrah huffed.
“You, me, my room—a great love story.”
“I hope you and your ego have a good night,”
“I hate seeing you go, but I love watching you leave.”
Now there was trouble. Farrah was beautiful, and Blake got a kick out of riling her up, but she was off-limits.
“That’ll be the last complaint for today. If anyone wants to be a Debbie Downer, do it on your own time.”
“Your indifference to my charms is starting to bruise my ego. Come on, throw a guy a bone.”
Correction: I REALLY need to get laid.
“Sorry, I don’t speak caveman.”
He had no reason to be jealous, but the green-eyed monster reared its head at the oddest times.
“Leo’s a crush. I want big, crazy, stupid love. The kind that’s worthy of Hollywood.” Farrah sighed. “I just want to know what that feels like.”
“Do you know you talk like a human Wikipedia?” Farrah asked.
“Was the elephant also handsome and athletic?” “Cocky and a showoff.”
“Well, I appreciate it. Shows how much you missed me.”
“You’re a guy. Guys make terrible decisions.” “That’s sexist.” “Sue me.”
“I told her you’re my boyfriend and it’s our one-year anniversary. This was where we had our first date, but you forgot to make reservations.” “Throwing me under the bus. Typical girlfriend behavior.”
“You can either stay in your comfort zone or do something that makes your heart goddamn race. One’s safe. The other is scary as hell. You know where the safe path takes
you—but it only takes you that far. The scary path? No one knows. It could be awful. Or it could be the best decision you’ll ever make.”
“Farrah Lin, if you make one more excuse, I’m going to shove my foot up your ass. Go!”
“Neither are you. You’re acting like a dick.” “I’m acting like a dick? You chewed me out for trying to help you!”
love you like a sister, and I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“He died four years ago.” Ah, fuck. “I’m so sorry.”
Blake was in love with Farrah.
Would you guys stop kicking me?” “Stop saying kick-worthy stuff,” Kris said.
“I think—” Blake’s voice turned rough. “You’re a smart-ass who’s too stubborn for your own good. I think you drive me crazier than any person ought to. And I think I might die if I can’t be with you.”
Farrah grabbed Blake Ryan’s face and kissed him.
For the first time in his life Blake believed in the Hollywood romance and the butterflies and the fireworks because he saw them.
leaving Farrah cheesy Post-it Notes in random places and buying her flowers for no reason. What’s worse, he enjoyed doing those things.
“Mom, look!”
“I can’t believe you did that to me. I have half a mind to throw you into the river,” he threatened.
“You are one of the smartest, hardest-working people I know. If this is what you want to do and you give it your all, you’ll succeed. I have faith in you.”
“You can repay me with unlimited drinks at your bar.” She gave him a soft kiss. “And unlimited kisses.” “Yes, ma’am. Your wish is my command.”
Farrah blushed. “Define ‘deed.’” “Don’t be coy. Have you had sex yet?” “Define ‘sex.’” “Farrah Lin!”
He’d been falling in love with her, bit by bit, since the moment they met.
“You’re going to be the death of me.” “In French, they use the term la petite mort, ‘the little death,’ as a euphemism for orgasm, so you’re technically correct.”
“Don’t be a pussy.”
“I didn’t expect it or even want it, but it happened. If I’m being honest, it happened a while ago, and I’m only now getting the courage to tell you. You said once every second counts, and I don’t want another second to go by without you knowing that I am totally, completely, one hundred percent in love with you.”
“When I met you, I told myself I wasn’t going to fall for you.”
“I did fall in love with you.”
“That place you’re at now? I’m right there with you. It scares the crap out of me, which is funny because I’ve always considered myself a romantic.
“Especially not food. You’re scary when you’re hangry.” Farrah grinned. “I’ve trained you well.” “What am I, a dog?”
“You should’ve been a cheerleader instead of a football player.”
