You might as well affirm the existence of mules, and deny that of horses and asses.

But, setting aside the question of public opinion, there seems to be something wrong in asking a favour of a judge, and thus procuring an acquittal, instead of informing and convincing him.

The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death.
