my deployment in Iraq was actually a period of profound personal growth upon which I really could use to build an even brighter future. I wouldn’t have been ready to make all the changes I was now in the process of making if I hadn’t endured those experiences. And all of the challenges of my past could be seen as preparation for the oncoming leadership in my future.
