Third—and this is the most difficult to grasp—loving your spouse as yourself means you want the best for your spouse even when your spouse can’t see what that is. It may be a difficult confrontation, or a healing in your spouse’s life. A good example of this is when a person does an intervention on an addicted spouse and puts him into treatment, even if the spouse does not realize that this is good for him.
