For the first time in my life I felt deeply connected to nature, the rich diversity of the Sonoran Desert fauna and flora right there in my own acre and a half for me to look at, smell, and touch. And in a part of the country where the Native American presence is so palpable, I was very much aware of that people’s profound sense of oneness with nature. I resonated with that.
