This is what time travel is. It’s looking at a person, and seeing them in the present and the past, concurrently.

Sadie liked the phrase “an abundance of caution.” It reminded her of a murder of crows, a flock of seagulls, a pack of wolves.

But Sam could be private, verging on paranoid, and he liked to control the flow of information. He feared them comparing notes and somehow ganging up on him.

Other people’s parents are often a delight.
