The types of behaviour we can ignore are whining, crying and throwing tantrums when there is nothing obviously wrong. In the same way, we have to learn when to ignore the mind and when to give it attention. This is also an active process that at first requires conscious competence. But over time, as we get used to ignoring the mind’s childish requests, it is less of a struggle and becomes unconsciously competent.
