To all the accomplished, generous, intelligent ladies out there who simply want a man with a filthy, filthy mouth.
She’d given every indication that she was anything but innocent, yet I felt her body give way the second I pushed inside her. A body that was temptation incarnate—feminine curves and skin soft as a ripe peach. She was fucking incredible, and I was her first. What was it about that fact that made me feel so damn barbaric? Like I needed to bang my chest and drag her back to my cave where no other man could even look at her.
“That’s where you’re wrong.” I slowly brought my hand to her sex, gently cupping her warmth. “This is mine now, and I protect what’s mine.”
“Look, this was fun, but I told you that I wasn’t looking for anything.” “Neither was I, but sometimes you end up in places you never meant to be.”
“Did you know that the first person who discovers a star gets to name it anything they want?” She was silent for a second before slowly turning her head side to side. “No, but I’m not a star, Bishop. You can’t own me.” “No one owns the stars, baby. Everyone can admire them from a distance, but that one man whose eyes first sighted that brilliant speck of light and recognized it for the treasure that it is, that man will always have a special bond with that star.”
My kitten was a little feral, but I’d show her just how good it was to be owned.
Belonging to a man could be its own kind of freedom—protection, adoration, support, and companionship. I’d be her damn everything if she’d let me.
I wasn’t crazy about men always thinking we needed chaperones. What really needed to happen was for men to learn to behave like fucking civilized human beings, then we wouldn’t be at risk.
“All I wanted was for you to give me a chance. You can still experience the world with me—anything out there, I’ll give it to you. All you have to do is ask,” he said fervently. “I think I can do that,” I whispered.
“Lucky for you, I’m Irish, and we’re used to our women being entirely too batshit crazy to control.”
“I’m not asking for forever yet, just that you’ll give me a chance. Give us a chance.” I leaned forward hesitantly and allowed my lips to ghost against his. “I don’t want to push you away anymore. I don’t want it to be over.” “Whatever this is, kitten, it’s not the end. This is only the beginning.”
“Because we hardly know each other. How could you have been so convinced you wanted me in such a short amount of time?” “I don’t have to eat two tubs of mint chip ice cream to know it’s my favorite.” “Yeah, but people aren’t ice cream,” I chided playfully. My insides warmed at his molten gaze. “No, but you taste just as sweet.”
