And even if he didn’t, he had violated my space without a second thought. And for what? To clean?
I blinked slowly at him. Gin had said Tex was cute. It was clear my brother needed to go. I wouldn’t let him take my toy away.
Was I pathetically lonely? Or did I have a death wish?
“Or what?” Tex shot back. My head tilted slightly to the right as I tried to understand if Tex was testing me on purpose or if he was trying to elicit some kind of reaction from me. “I will fuck you until you can’t walk away from me ever again.”
“Please, tell me what you were just thinking. I don’t understand.” His eyebrows knit together, and he frowned. “I want to understand.”
The horny brain side of me almost wanted him to hold me down and never let me escape. Then I will know he really cares about me.
Goddamn, I need therapy.
“I know, Pen, we’re getting kidnapped, but don’t you worry. Enzo has a nice-looking couch for you to scratch up.”
“You’re shit at listening.” I grabbed another box and handed it to him. “I’m never letting you go, Tex Caster.”
“You distract me, and risotto is a delicate dish.” “I’m distracting you? How?” I sighed. “You being so close makes me want to bend you over the counter and fuck you as I hold a knife to your throat.”
“But I’m not craving drugs or even alcohol.” He licked his lips as his eyelids lowered and his pupils dilated. “I found something far more intoxicating and just as deadly.”
“Keep moaning my name, Tex,” he said, his voice a breathy whisper. “The more you do it, the more I know you’re mine.”
The more I went through, the angrier I became. Not because Enzo had killed him, though. The feeling was… stranger, more twisty and desperate. And I realized I wasn’t pissed; I was jealous. Of a dead guy. Great. What the hell is Enzo Vitale doing to me?
“Enzo, you knew this wasn’t going to last.” “I didn’t.” My chest felt as if a knife was steadily piercing it.
“Enzo, get off!” No, if I do, you will leave.
Tex wrapped his bound wrists around the back of my neck, pulling me close. He kissed me as if he couldn’t breathe without me. I’d give him all the oxygen he needed as long as he stayed with me.
I cupped his face and pushed some of his black hair back. “I can’t let you leave me,” I whispered, kissing him softly. “You can hate me, but I lo—”
“Want to talk about why there is a cop passed out in your bed with your cum leaking out of his ass?” Gin asked. My shoulders tightened, and I glared at my brother. He shrugged. “I had a few sugar-coated options, but let’s be real, Enzo. You’re essere stupido.” “I know.” I couldn’t deny it, but there was no way around it. “You know what you have to do.” I shook my head. “He’s mine.” “Enzo—” “Gin, lui è il mio tutto.”
As I spoke, Penelope trotted over to Rourke. My partner frowned, lifted his hand, and tried to pet Penelope. A growl echoed from Penelope’s throat before he hissed at him. Penelope’s back raised, his tail high as he reached out a paw and struck out at Rourke.
“Shit, Enzo. I’ve never seen the place like this. You have to get out of here.” “He might come back,” I said. It was my answer every time after searching for him for three days straight. Tex hadn’t been at his place or his family home. I’d even gotten information on his partner but nothing.
“Shower and fresh clothes. Shit, if I didn’t know you, I’d think you were in love, and now your heart’s broken.” Gin started laughing as if it was the most absurd notion. and Maybe at one time, it had been.
“You know what they say. If you love something, let it free or some shit like that.” I shook my head. “That is ridiculous. It should be, if you love something, lock it away so that it never escapes.”
I stared at the man I’d spent so much time with. How many nights had we sat together at some dingy bar, destressing after the horrors of work? How many times had we called each other late at night just to vent? How many beers had we shared, cups of coffee, fucked up home life stories? And he was willing to kill me.
Enzo was the most important thing in my life. I only wanted to focus on him.
“Tex?” “Yeah,” I muttered. “I love you.” My eyes snapped right back open. “What?” Enzo’s eyes were starting to close, the medicine kicking in. “I love you,” he slurred slightly. “Stay with me.”
“Fuck. I think I love you too,” I whispered. A smile took over his lips as his eyes closed one last time and stayed closed. The soft, even breathing against my ear made my chest tighten. I stared at Enzo for what felt like ages, watching his chest rise and fall as he held onto me. I love you more than I’ve ever loved another human being in my life.
I closed my eyes, basking in the feeling of Tex. In everything that he was. “Then trust I will put you back together.”
“I love you.” Tex blinked up at me, and I wiped some of the tears away. “Yeah? Will you still love me when I fuck up?”
“You’re mine. You’ve had your moment of freedom. You will never escape me again.” Tex stared at me for a long while before his lips tilted up in a smile. “Freedom? I was on the fucking run.”
“From now on, I’m the only one allowed to hurt you or make you cry. Every inch of you belongs to me.” I bit his lip. “Even your life.” Tex groaned. “Yeah. Where do I sign, Satan?”
