“What I hear you saying is you now crave my salads.” “There are things I’d crave from you long before salad,”
“It’s going to be hard enough standing next to a bunch of actresses and models. I figured some makeup was necessary.” His eyes flicker over my face. “You’re prettier than any of them even without makeup,” he says gruffly.
“I wish my husband would look at me the way he looks at you,” Linda whispers. “Like he could be completely content if he never had to look at anything else.”
I can barely get him to take an hour for lunch, but he cancelled an entire day’s appointments for me.
“If it were an option,” he says, suddenly fierce, “I’d never be willing to share you.”
“Wear the lipliner, then,” she says. “I bet you a hundred bucks it winds up on his dick by the end of the party.”
“I still want you to come,” he says. “I’ll stand in Starbucks with you. Show me what this normal, happy life would be like if you had a weekend off and didn’t work for me.”
“Marry me. Please marry me.”
