Other faces are all I have to go on when it comes to certain questions in my head. Other faces can tell me what might be possible for my own. And now here’s a new possibility.
Everyone else in Gladder Hill is normal, doesn’t have Superficial thoughts, and doesn’t want to know anyone with Superficial thoughts.
Is that why humans have faces in the end? So we can see them—the people we care about—before we die? So they can be with us, in a way, in those final moments?
Maybe some people, like my mom, don’t heal, and maybe other people do—at least enough to keep living.
