Apparently the man's name was Miles, and Malicent wasn't just randomly proclaiming a unit of measurement.

“So do not be sad this face leaves, be thankful you were here to see it.”

After all, every time you read a book, you see the world from the eyes of another person, and that, of course, is the basis for all empathy.
