When we think of airports, we imagine runways and large buildings like these. In reality, however, airports are complex agglomerations of infrastructure and services, like little cities. So T5 also required a long list of other systems—tunnels, roads, parking facilities, rail connections, stations, electronic systems, baggage handling, catering, safety systems, and a new air traffic control tower for the whole airport—that had to work together seamlessly.
