She clearly hadn’t realised how much I would have missed her because Britt just collapsed underneath me and we ended up on the floor laughing loudly. “Anyone would think you missed me.” Britt laughed pulling me into a bear hug while we were still laying on the ground.
BRITT!! Of course she went to Valhalla when Aria freed her spirit at the funeral. I AM SO GLAD OUR BADASS BESTIE IS HERE!
“Well, you basically saved me from an eternity of boredom and got me into the most exclusive club. I totally kick ass here by the way. Wait until you meet the others. I can’t wait for them to meet you,” she said, bouncing up and down in excitement. “Who’s the new man candy though?” she asked tipping her head to Virion.
1) of course she kicks ass here, we'd expect nothing less from our badass bestie
2) gods I missed this female friendship so much lol
Geta turned to me with a vicious grin on her face. “It will do you no good to just push these demons back. They will just look for another way to return. No, you need to wipe them out and make an example out of them to those who would stand against you. This will be a glorious battle and we will ride beside you.” She nodded resolutely with her broad grin and an excited gleam in her eye.
Even Aria had been getting stronger over the last week. The fire she could call now made her look like such a badass. When she stood there, ready to fight with her wings and her swords ablaze, she looked like a war goddess getting ready to smite everyone who fucked her off.
But rising from her back, on display from the cruel way that they’d chained her, were the bloody stumps where a pair of wings must have once been. A few feathers remained on the mangled stumps; charred and festering. Someone had torn the wings from her body.
Sykes laughed and smiled. “No, she shut that down real fast. They all backed down because she threatened to kick their asses. Then she took some of the other girls under her wing and trained them. In six weeks, she had them turned into an elite fighting unit.
Just as Braedon pulled us closer, as we were about to leap, my eyes focused behind the portal and I caught a glimpse of Heimdallr who just smiled and gave me a thumbs up. A relieved breath I hadn’t even realised I was holding wooshed out of me. They made it.
Watching her embrace her magic and cut through Odin’s soldiers gave me a ray of hope. Maybe she and her mates would make it through all of this. I knew we were doing the right thing, but I still didn’t know how I was going to live with myself afterwards.
“We need to draw up a contingency in case the Valkyrie either fails, or betrays us,” Trace said sharply once the door closed behind her. He didn’t have the balls to look me in the eye as he did it. I was surprised he had the balls to say anything when he was shut in a room with so many of her mates.
“We do not fight for wealth. We do not fight to merely take something which does not belong to us. We are not under any misguided impression that the lives of others mean any less than ours. We fight for our way of life. We fight for the lives of our friends and family. We fight for our very right to exist. They,” she screamed, pointing at the demons and witches behind her, “believe you should roll over and die so they can wield a bit more magic. They believe that your lives are insignificant. They’ve taken the lives of the students from the academy, your children, and desecrated their bodies
