“That’s because he recognized the signs. He saw you needed help and that you deserved it,” she said, clearing her throat. “I don’t know all the details about your situation, and it’s not my place to, but I know you’ve been through a lot, Madison.”

“I’m not here to pry, dear, nor will I ever. But I wanted to make sure you knew that while the rest of the world may not understand the magnitude of what it took for you to let my son in…I do.”

A kid can be born happy, but it’s the love they receive that teaches their heart to be gentle.

“Tell me you’re mine, Garrett Rowe.” He pulled back to look down at me, the glittering hazel of his eyes bright and fierce. “Fucking hell, Maddie, I’ve never been anything else.”

“If you think for even a second that I’m going to go a single night without seeing my future wife shatter beneath me,” he said, slamming so deep I saw fucking stars, “you better reevaluate your goddamn expectations, baby. Now, do it.”
