One Puzzling Afternoon

“Facts, yes, can be truthful, but they don’t always give us the truth, do they? Not the whole truth, at least. And evidence.” He rubbed his chin again. “Evidence is only ever partial evidence. When do we ever really know the full story?”

We create the past. We give the people who lived in the past a narrative—yet it can never truly be their story. Their voices are lost to us. And in their voices lies the truth.
