That woman just threw herself at me and mauled my mouth.
“I was accosted by a woman.”
“Some woman with pink hair flung herself at me and kissed me, then told me to have a nice day and walked away.”
I demand from him the one unbreakable oath. “Pinky promise?” Those soft moss green eyes shoot to mine. “Pinky what?” “Promise.” “Like a five-year-old?” “Are you five?” “No, I’m thirty.” “Then like a thirty-year-old.”
Haven’t you ever heard the phrase, ‘my body is a temple’?” “Oh, I’ve heard it. But my body is not a temple. It’s an amusement park. Filled with popcorn, corn dogs, neon lights, and loud music. With creepy clowns and fun houses and roller coasters that make you scream with joy and vomit afterwards.”
“Is that what you tell all the girls? Just spit it out? Seems… messy, and you don’t look like a guy that does… messy.”
“Never allow others to dampen your smile, Micaela. They’re not worth its loss.”
“Goddamn it, Shortcake. You feel like every sin I ever wanted to commit.”
“You are far too beautiful to be repulsed by. Just looking at you sometimes catches me by surprise at how much I don’t want to look away.”
“You are worthy of appreciation and celebration. You are loved by your brother and sister, and even Eddie and Leo. You are a good man and deserve a day once a year to spotlight your life and accomplishments. Even if that’s only having lived another year.”
“Aren’t these for like, kid’s parties?” “And adults who love to embrace their inner child.” “That sounds like a felony.”
“I think you look sexy as hell, but don’t change your color just for me. I like you in all your pink just as much as I’d like you in any other color.”
