One reason many people struggle is that they feel their identity is tied to the results they achieve.
You are the hero of your own adventure, but heroes are only made by confronting and overcoming challenges.
the happiest and most fulfilled people I’ve known are those who devoted themselves to something bigger and more profound than merely their own self-interest.”
Achieving a life of greatness is possible when you focus on three different areas of your life. I like to call them the Three Players—Business, Relationships, Wellness. It may be tempting to focus on one or two of them, but it’s important to develop all three players.
There is a four-step process that I use to ensure I’m moving forward: Schedule, Automate, Eliminate, and Celebrate.
Scheduling helps you create a routine that manages your energy.
Block out time for what matters most. Fill in all the other small stuff around the important things. It’s the only way to ensure you are moving toward the things that matter.
Look for repetitive tasks you can automate. This can be things like meal-planning, bill payments, e-mail responses, subscriptions, or exercise routines.
Take a look at the things you do daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. What is repetitive? Where are you wasting your time acting on something that could be automated?
We spend way too much time doing things we either shouldn’t be doing because they are unimportant or should be handing off to someone else because they can do them just as well as (or better than) we can.
When you’ve scheduled what’s important, automated the things that zap your energy, and eliminated the things that you shouldn’t be doing, you’ll feel pretty amazing!
If you don’t have a clear idea of where you are heading, you may stay busy, but you won’t move toward greatness.
“If you were in a field by yourself with no clothes, no possessions, no trophies, absolutely nothing—just you, by yourself, you are enough. You always have been, and you always will be, no matter what.”
