It could be for this very reason that Jabez, in 1 Chronicles 4:9–10, did not ask God for more property or greater wealth but to enlarge his intellectual territory—or his mental capacity regarding his own worth. He asked God to give him a greater capacity for conceiving what he might accomplish on God’s behalf because he knew his own limited thinking was holding him captive.
