This could help humanity towards the goal of net-zero emissions on Earth. Technologically deploying ‘fields’ of solar panels in space is already achievable. They could collect enough energy from the Sun to meet all current electricity needs and beam it downwards. Placing factories in space will be possible, and, as discussed, mining the Moon and asteroids for rare earth materials and other resources is within our grasp.
