Dominating one large wall of the control center was a logical map of the network. Constructed of movable magnetic pieces on a metal background, the map was a wiring diagram showing all of the IMPs, host computers, and links—indicated by square, round, and triangular markers. Color codes and pointers indicated the status of each IMP, node, and link. At a glance, operators could tell which lines or IMPs were down and where traffic was being routed around the trouble spots.
