This is actually good. Possessivenes in YA is overdone but a negative reaction to it is good. But legit erik is suddenly a huge dick so readers are okay when she leaves him for stark. Thos os exactly what happened to Jacob in Eclipse. His character is literally being assasinated for romance plot with another dude.
