To practice building rapport, I ask him what he paid for his ticket. If you can’t determine the customer needs, identify the hot buttons, of some stranger rubbing arms with you on an airplane, you’ll never talk anybody into taking “mental ownership” of a Nissan, much less a Cadillac.
Questions that have one answer, those are “closed questions.”
Sex Tornado.
Rant drops the trash into his bag. He plucks a pussy plug, this one with just an itty-bitty dot of red in the middle of that white pillow. The red looking black in the moonlight, Rant sniffs it and frowns. He sniffs again, with his eyes closed this time, and says, “It’s LouAnn Perry, all right, but she must be back taking those fluoride pills…” Rant offers me the red dot, but I shake my head. Before anybody decent has showed up to help, Rant’s picked the length of our back fence, guessing every dick and pussy.
You grow up to become living proof of your parent’s limitations. Their less-than-masterpiece.
The young hang mirrors in their homes. The elderly hang paintings. And, if I may make an ungenerous observation, residents of rural communities display crafts—those dubious products of spare time, limited motor skill, and inexpensive yarn.
My take is you’re not born loving nobody. Love is a skill you learn. Like house-training a dog. Maybe a talent you do or do not build up. Like a muscle. And if you can’t learn yourself to love blood family, then you’ll never truly love. Not nobody.
You can get plenty of folks telling the same lie if they got a stake in it. You get everybody telling the same lie and it ain’t a lie, not no more.
Money you don’t work to earn, you spend very quickly.
A child who is never coached with Santa Claus may never develop an ability to imagine. To him, nothing exists except the literal and tangible.
With rabies, the virus is carried in the saliva of an infected animal. Any bite or lick, even a sneeze, can spread the disease. Once you have it, the virus spreads through your central nervous system, up your spine to your brain, where it reproduces. The early stage is called the “eclipse” phase of the disease, because you present no symptoms. You can be contagious as all getout, but still look and feel normal. This eclipse phase can last a couple days to years and years. And all that time, you can be infecting folks with your saliva.
Because the virus is transmitted primarily through saliva, something as minor as a cough or a sneeze can infect those in the immediate vicinity. Certainly within an elevator or an airliner cabin. Mechanically speaking, contracting rabies is as easy as catching a cold. But with a cold you immediately begin to present symptoms.
And Rant says, “Is that true?” The auctioneer says, “…going twice…” Echo twists her head to both sides until her neck pops, and she says, “Is what true?” Rant says, “What she said.” He says, “Are you really my girlfriend?”
Annually in this nation, approximately sixteen thousand people are murdered. During the same period of time, approximately forty-three thousand die in motor-vehicle accidents.
The term “bogeyman” is derived from “Boney,” the British derogatory nickname for Napoleon Bonaparte. Over time, the name evolved into “boneyman” and later “bogeyman,” but it was always used as a threat by the British in order to keep their children obedient.
