Our people were dying, being stolen out from under her nose.

Repeated too many times. We know this is happening.

I had a good view of his ass as he moved. There were worse things I could look at. I smirked. Much, much worse.

Unnecessary comment and slightly inappropriate

I held my breath as I waited for something—anything—to mend this rift between us.

This is when their relationship should have started improving, but it didn't so the hostility and grudge was dragged out for too long, in my opinion.
