The old writers used to say that Christ is to the Church what the spirit is to the body – it is that which gives it life.
God isn’t going to take us off to heaven all wrapped in cellophane, looking as if we ought to be hanging on a Christmas tree. God is going to take us there after He has purged us, disciplined us, and dragged us through the fire.
I don’t believe anyone can love until he is able to hate. I don’t think that anyone can love God unless he hates evil. I don’t think he can love righteousness unless he hates sin.
I believe we ought to be fully committed to Him. We ought to be fully surrendered to Jesus without restrictions or hesitation. Sink or swim, live or die, we ought to be irrevocably attached in love, faith, and devotion to Jesus Christ the Lord.
