The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.
Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.
Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.
The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
The LORD gives his people strength. The LORD blesses them with peace.
I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, 12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!
Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe. 3 You are my rock and my fortress.
But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, “You are my God!”
Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude
So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
Let the godly sing for joy to the LORD; it is fitting for the pure to praise him.
But the LORD watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. 19 He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. 20 We put our hope in the LORD
Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts.[*]
Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. 4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
but the godly are generous givers.
Turn from evil and do good, and you will live in the land forever.
For the LORD loves justice,
The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong.
Put your hope in the LORD. Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land. You will see the wicked destroyed.
But the rebellious will be destroyed; they have no future.
I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting.
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and 6 my God!
But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. 3 Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises! 7 For God is the King over all the earth. Praise him with a psalm.
O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.
For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die.
For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
and keep the vows you made to the Most High. 15 Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”
Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God.
I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. 13 Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend.
Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!
You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress.
2 From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, 3 for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. 4 Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!
