His tongue darts out to lick his lips before he asks, “Do you know what the worst part of all of this is?” “What?” My skin clams up. “That after everything, I still can’t find it in myself to hate you.”
“I wear the four P’s proud, baby girl.” “Four P’s?” Collins chokes. I lean my head back against the beanbag and meet his stare with cold eyes. “Yeah. Protective, possessive, proud, and packing.”
“Look, Marco. Braxton is my girl, yeah? She’s precious to me. Can I trust you to take care of her when I’m not here?”
“Are you pussying out on me, Maddox? Is the big bad hockey player too scared of a pair of printed scrubs to make a bet?”
“That’s real. That’s raw. That’s the furthest thing from pity. We’re going to do this damn thing, and I’m going to get my best friend back in the process. There’s nowhere for you to run that I won’t find you this time. You got that?”
“It’s embarrassing that after this long, you still don’t believe how in love I am with your daughter. She’s been mine since the day we met, Roy. It would be smart to start believing just how much she means to me.”
“Well, that just proves how little you know about the women in this family because we get vicious when we’re hungry. And I’m damn near ravished,” Anna growls.
With you by my side, we’re going all the way to the cup, and that means you need more than one jersey. Take your pick, there’s every style of VW jersey I’ve ever worn in here.
