Konstantin actually hugs me. The cheesy fucking asshole, I swear. I pat his back. Only for show. Nothing else. Absolutely nothing. I don’t even remember the last time I hugged this little shit. Probably when we were kids. He still gives clingy hugs. He hugs like a girl. Just saying. Once this whole thing is over, I’ll be Pakhan and I’ll go to celebrate with my woman. No, my wife.
God forbid anyone speak ill of any woman in front of Rai. She’ll skin them alive and wear it as fur.
“Please join me in welcoming the new Pakhan,” Sergei says. “Kirill.” It’s all going according to plan.
The world has always been monotone to me—either black or gray. The only person who introduced me to a fucking rainbow of colors has now turned black. She’s now being ripped out of my heart and leaving a bottomless pit in her wake. Everything has turned to ashes. All I can do is glare at the sky, feel moisture filling my eyes, and let out a raw scream.
My wife loved this cheesy shit. She loved hugging me and trying to comfort me. She also loved singing and kissing. But then she left and took away her hugs, her smiles, and even her infuriating arguing.
“Wait. Go back.” My throat grows dry with every word. “Did you just say Sasha?” “Yeah. She said, and I quote, ‘I’m alive. Though you probably know by now that the body was a ploy. Next time I see you, I’m going to kill you.’” “She…is alive?” The words strangle me on their way out.
Life rushes through my limbs all at once, washing away all emptiness and the hell that came with it. I’m breathing. No. I’m alive. Fuck.
She wants to kill me the next time she sees me? By all means. Anything for my beautiful wife.
The moment my feet touch the ground, a shiver rushes down my spine as warmth envelops my back and hot words penetrate my ears. “Miss me, wife?”
“It’s really you.” His voice drips with what can only be described as…awe. Disbelief, maybe. No. Relief.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I point my rifle at his left shoulder keeping him an arm’s length away. “You.” “Stay away from me!” “I can’t. You’re my wife. Till death do us part, remember?” “Have you lost your mind?” “Probably.” “Kirill, stay away, I mean it.” “I won’t. I mean it. You can shoot my other arm and I will walk to you. If you take my legs, I’ll crawl to you.” “Are you crazy?” “When it comes to you? Possibly.” He pushes against the rifle with impossible strength, considering his right arm is fucked. “So unless you kill me, you won’t be able to stop me.”
But then the supposedly dream-like Kirill slips what feels like a ring on my finger and whispers in my ear, “Welcome home, Solnyshko.”
“Sasha is my wife. From today on, you’ll respect and protect her as you do me.”
“I must say.” He pokes her cheek as if she’s a lifeless doll. “You look like this pretty boy Sasha who was Kirill’s guard. You even share the same name.” “Are you serious?” Rai rolls her eyes. “She is Sasha.” “Oh.” He studies her closely again, and I’m tempted to poke his eyes out and break that finger he’s touching her with. “You became a woman?” he asks like a fucking idiot. “I was always a woman, Damien.” “Oooh. That’s why you were a pretty boy. Makes sense.” He pokes her cheek again. “You look much better as a woman.”
“Kirill!” I run toward him. “What’s wrong? Have you been shot—” The words die in my throat when he meets me halfway and slams his lips to mine.
Being kissed by Kirill has always been an experience, but this kiss? It’s as if I’m facing a hurricane and my only choice is to let myself be whisked away.
“My wife.” He tightens the belt further, and I clench around his cock. “My woman.” Thrust. “Fucking mine.”
“Understand this, wife.” He speaks so close to my face, his mouth almost touches my cheek. “There are no options for you other than me. If you keep insisting there are, I will make you watch as I slaughter each and every one of them.”
“You’re such a good girl, wife.” “Luchik…” I don’t mean to say his nickname, but now that I did, I can’t take it back. His pace picks up at that and he growls, “Say that again.” “Luchik, please.” “Please what?” “Fuck me.”
“How would you feel if the roles were reversed and I forced you to do this?” “I’d do it.” “You’re just saying that.” “If you want a tracker on me, I’ll get one this instant, Sasha.” “Then do it. Let’s see how you feel when I monitor your every move.”
“The worst you’ll ever have, Orlov.” “Word,” I agree. “Your wife will try to win at every turn, and you have to lose. Willingly.” “Fuck no. I’m losing no war.” “There’s no winning in marriage,” Adrian says. “Your wife is the only one you’ll relinquish power to, or you have to be prepared to lose her.”
“I don’t only love you. I’m nothing without you. I don’t know when it started or when it grew into this fiery explosion, but I know for a fact that you’ve become an undivided part of me. You’re the solace I need every night and the light I look forward to every morning. I might have strived for power and prestige, but it took losing you to realize that my universe revolves around you.”
We met as broken beings, but now we’re putting each other together again. One piece at a time. We were separate entities, but now, we’re one. I’m hers. She’s fucking mine. Until death do us part.
