“I let you punch him the first time out of courtesy, but if you hit my brother again, I’ll break your legs.”
My wife loved this cheesy shit. She loved hugging me and trying to comfort me. She also loved singing and kissing. But then she left and took away her hugs, her smiles, and even her infuriating arguing.
“If there’s a point behind your tedious speech, you should’ve reached it by now.”
“I didn’t realize you were adding delusional to your repertoire of words.”
“I refuse to have a black heart and believe everyone is out to get me.”
The moment my feet touch the ground, a shiver rushes down my spine as warmth envelops my back and hot words penetrate my ears. “Miss me, wife?”
“I might die,” I say with a fake groan. “Good. Less evil in the world.”
“You’re a damn asshole.” His lips twitch. “You know I love it when you compliment me.”
Kirill, who kills for sport, is picking flowers for me like some doting lover.
We didn’t ask to be fucking born to you or him. We had no choice in our existence, but you had all the choice to like or hate us, and you chose not to be our mother. I’m choosing not to be your son.”
“There’s no winning in marriage,” Adrian says. “Your wife is the only one you’ll relinquish power to, or you have to be prepared to lose her.” I nod. “Sometimes, you have to pretend you lost her just to get her back.”
“Too new,” I tell Adrian. “Too inexperienced,” he replies. “He’s going to learn the hard way.” “And we’re going to enjoy watching every second of it.”
Maks is more important than duty.” I grin like an idiot. What? I’m their number one supporter.
“I don’t only love you. I’m nothing without you. I don’t know when it started or when it grew into this fiery explosion, but I know for a fact that you’ve become an undivided part of me. You’re the solace I need every night and the light I look forward to every morning. I might have strived for power and prestige, but it took losing you to realize that my universe revolves around you.”
“Does that mean if I ask you to stop being Pakhan, you’ll give up the position for me?” He catches hold of my hand and kisses my palm. “Today if you want.” “Really?” “Whatever my beautiful wife wants.” “But you worked so hard for it.” “That position means nothing without you.”
but I had no choice in loving you.” “Good. Because I don’t intend to ever let you go.” “Even if I hate you sometimes?” “Especially then.” “Even if I’m difficult?” “I’m difficult, too.” “Even if you get tired of me?” “I’d get tired of the world, but never you, wife.”
I’m his. He’s mine. And neither of us has a say in it.
It seems like our little boy is looking forward to seeing us as much as we’re looking forward to seeing him. We smile as the realization hits us. We’re officially going to be parents today.
“Thank you.” She looks up at me with a beautiful smile. “For what?” “For being my family, Solnyshko.”
