He understood that his rank only meant something if he sought out a different certification: an invisible badge that says, “I am the example. Follow me, and I will show you that there is more to this life than so-called authority and stripes or candy on a uniform. I’ll show you what true ambition looks like beyond all the external structure in a place of limitless mental growth.”
