The key issue is not only whether the church is attracted to the prospective pastor but also whether the prospective pastor is attracted to this kind of church. The latter is as important as the former when it comes to weeding out the bad apples. If potentially abusive pastors don’t like what they see and remove themselves from the search process voluntarily, all the better.
