Four movies and two glasses of red wine later, I’ve landed in Brazil.
I refocus on the steaming white mug in his hand. “Whatcha got there?” “Earl Grey, a teaspoon of honey—there’s actually two, but I know you’d refuse to admit you put more than one in here—and of course, it’s piping hot.” Okay. Weird. How could he even remember that?
“I’m surprised you didn’t try to fight me for the bigger room.” “I was so tired I didn’t even notice. Plus, this room has a better view.” “True, you’re here.”
“Liar.” “Where is your evidence, detective?” “Montauk, last summer. You said verbatim, ‘Breakfast is the foreplay meal of the day.’ If I recall the morning correctly, you claimed you’d never skip such an important event.”
“Does vacation mean I get tea delivered each morning and a whole breakfast spread overlooking the ocean?” “If you’re good.” His soft lips tug into a smirk. “And if I’m bad?” “Then you’ll be bringing me a cup of coffee when I’m rolling out of your bed.”
“Of course I’m single, Nico.” “Not of course. You’re like a modern-day Morticia Addams mixed with Brigitte Bardot.”
“Have you thought about any plans for when you’re back? Your birthday’s next month, right?” Lily’s green eyes stretch with surprise. “Did you put together a profile on me?” I tilt my head toward her. “What do you mean?” “Memorizing my tea, and now my birthday. You got a crush on me, Navarro?” Something like that.
“I don’t feel okay at all,” I whisper. Lily squats, crouching on her tiptoes, and claps her hands on my knees. “What can I do?” Each paralyzing sensation in my limbs loosens under her touch. “Kiss me again.”
“We didn’t plan the kiss either. It was an accident, and it won’t be happening again.” Avery practically leaps out of her seat. “So, you did kiss?” “I’ll tell you about it later.”
“Earlier, Lily said it was very nice.” “I never said very.”
“So, I was thinking, if Nico doesn’t mind, you should stay the whole summer,”
The best part of my day begins. All four guys shake out their hair, and Nico’s long strands splatter water onto Diego’s chest. Wow.
“You are just perfect. Absolute, utter perfection,” he says, panting, when he gets to me. I smile at him. “Thank you.” A blush warms my cheeks. Well, that’s new.
“I was talking to the lunch you’re holding.”
Nico doesn’t absorb my blow. Instead, he dodges it, then grabs my wrist with his free hand and practically pulls me into his bare chest.
Sometimes, when we’re together, Nico makes me feel as if I’m the only person in the world. Then he pulls crap like this and makes me feel so overlooked.
“This is too wholesome for your wank bank,” I say. “I don’t have a wank bank.” “Sure.” “But if I did, that would be the first photo in it.”
3. #Lico would officially make you my sister
How is every single word coming out of his mouth entirely dripping with sex? Nico could rattle off different flavors of ice cream and I’d still helplessly melt in his hands.
“Look, you want me to be honest? I hated when Diego was touching you.”
“You look so pretty tonight, Lily. It almost hurts being around you.”
“I know you look at me the way I look at you,”
“How exactly am I looking at you?”
“Like you want me to be the one suffocating you with compliments as your pussy w...

“As long as you’re not any louder than you’ve been at the hotel.” An unexpected tickle of embarrassment stings my cheeks. There’s no way I haven’t been discreet. “I’m not that loud.” “Sure, and I don’t stay up listening.”
“This is such a bad idea.” The devil incarnate stares at me through Nico’s eyes. “Want me to convince you it isn’t?” “Yes.”
Of course he has some kind of magical monster cock that will probably put me in thrall for him.
“There’s no one I’ve ever wanted as much as you.”
“Can you be a good girl for me, Lil, and run your pretty tongue over my fingers?” My heart stops. “I don’t want to wait until your wicked mouth goes dry because you can’t stop screaming my name.”
“Eyes on me, princesa. I want to watch what I’ve dreamed about since I first laid my eyes on you.”
“I’ve jerked myself raw to the sound of you coming through the walls of the hotel, but right now, watching you chase every bit of pleasure I give you, I’m fucking ruined.”
“I’ve waited since the day we met to hear you scream my name. I want to hear it again.”
“I wanted to give you this.” Nico digs in the pocket of his shorts before presenting me with a woven lavender string knotted in a circle.
“It’s a friendship bracelet, duh. I got one for me too.” He flashes me his other wrist. An identical bracelet wraps around his skin, stacked between the other bundles of leather, metal, and yarn. “Huh,” I say, still staring at the gift in his hand. Now this is definitely a first for me. “It’s to celebrate our friendship. You know, after last night, I th—” “Nico,” I deadpan. “Did you get me a fuck buddy bracelet?”
We can’t be fuck buddies with bracelets to match. This is exactly what I’ve been trying to avoid.
“I’ve been up all night thinking about…” He shrugs one of his shoulders at me. “You.”
“You weren’t thinking about me?” The lie jumps out. “No, I was busy sleeping.”
“Don’t lie, Lil. You want to do it again.” “Shut up.” My eyes fling themselves into the back of my head, running away from the truth. “Translation: Yes. Please, Nico. Make me come again.”
“You know as well as I do that before we hooked up, I wanted to tear those little black dresses you wear off your body. Whether I should or shouldn’t have.”
“And, of course, I’m happy to return the favor—just once, because it’s only fair, but otherwise—” “I didn’t taste almost every gorgeous inch of your body so you can rub one out for me, Lily. What the fuck?” His mouth hangs open, stuck somewhere between concern and shock.
“I don’t want you touching me unless you want to. This isn’t some twisted orgasm-for-an-orgasm situation. I would gladly repeat last night for the rest of the trip without anything in return.”
He leans over, puckering his lips for an expectant kiss. I extend out my palm, connect it with his forehead, and push him away.
“I don’t get jealous. I simply don’t like to share.”
“And, Nico, do me a favor.” “Anything, pretty girl.” “Don’t become obsessed with me.”
“Don’t worry, princesa, I won’t fall in love with you. Promise.”
“Humor me for a sec,” he says, taking my hand in his. I instinctively yank it away, but he clasps harder. “No hand-holding,” I remind him. “It’s an emergency,” Nico whispers.
“You know you have worth even without goals and productivity?”
“Then everything you’re worried about at this moment is future Lily’s problem. Not current Lily’s problem.”
Is passion meant to be hard to come by? Does it creep up on you when you least expect it?
“Of course I have it bad.” I sigh. “You’ve seen her.”
