I’m still a woman with eyes, and it’s as plain as day that there’s undeniable chemistry crackling around us like a hair dryer tossed in a full bath. Dangerous, maybe even deadly.
There’s not a single person, animal, alien, or living thing that can deny it: Lily Rodin is absolutely fucking gorgeous.
Hey, universe. You’re obviously running through the motions here, and I already have everything I want, but if this isn’t entirely bogus, maybe cut Lily some slack? Okay. Thanks.
The universe is really fucking me up the ass without a drop of lube.
“Lily, I’ve been on a hundred adventures, but if I only get this one with you, I want to make it special. See the world through your eyes.”
Lily is bold, so fucking smart and witty, and she can always make me laugh. Simply being around her makes me feel better, and when I’m not with her, I actually feel alone. A feeling I’m unfamiliar with.
I’ve jumped out of planes, scuba dived in open water, and bungee jumped with a broken harness, and nothing gets my heart racing more than her touch.
Yellow shades are luminescent beneath the glimmer of light. The same beautiful image on my phone’s lock screen now stares back at me. “You actually brought me to see Sunflowers?”
I’m wrong for realizing it while her panting body writhes beneath mine, but there’s no point denying the truth. I’m in love with Lily Rodin. My first love.
“You may think you’re a mystery, gorgeous girl, but I know you like the back of my hand.”
The only thing our time in London has made me realize is that Lily Rodin is my first love, and I’m intent on making her my last and my only. Despite her resistance, however much it aches me to witness, I know she feels it too.
She’s my everything. I may not truly understand what it means to be in love yet, but giving her my all feels like the right thing. It’s what I want to do.
“People fall in love in all sorts of ways. There’s no use trying to understand how and who your heart will pull toward. It’s why romance is fun. It’s entirely unpredictable.”
“You submitted erotica to your professor? You’re a fucking legend.”
It’s true. I need him more than I need peace right now. More than I rely on the oxygen filling my lungs.
We may have seen a lot of beauty around the world this summer, but nothing holds a candle to Lily.
She glows as if dropped here from heaven itself. All I want to do is reach her, help her burn brighter, and make her happy. I’m so ridiculously in love with her.
“I didn’t get the privilege of being your first love, of showing you exactly how you should’ve been treated, but I want to be your last.”
But emotions don’t make you less than, they make you human. Feeling them and experiencing them is healthy. Asking for support is a sign of bravery, not weakness.
“I want you, Lily. I want to call you, kiss you, feel you. I want your faults and truths and each one of your laughs. I want you and all your firsts, but there’s a small part of me that’s afraid.”
Lily beams, and it’s like a ray of sunshine fell through the skylight and landed right in front of me.
To the man who made me understand I deserve to take a risk on my own happily ever after.’”
No matter how many times I’ve seen her, woken up in the same bed with her, or made her fall apart in my hands, Lily still yanks the air right out of my lungs.
