“For every day my heart beats, I’m yours. My heart, my soul—it’s all yours.” “I’m yours,” I repeated. His lips brushed mine. “I will love you until the stars stop shining.”
Because this was what I was born to do, and I would no longer allow myself to be weak. “You’re merciless,” Tol whispered when our swords met between us. “I think I like it.”
“She’s a unique combination.” I smiled. “A forceful soul, but a kind one with the power to raise Spirits or barrel down her enemies. She knows what she wants in the world and takes it.” “She learned that from you.”
“She will find someone whom she loves. Someone who drives her existence, makes her fiercer and gentler at once. Who will match her spirit and truly see her heart. Who brightens life and makes it worth living.”
Magic always had motives.
My best friend through it all, something deeper between us. He was my guiding light in the darkness that had consumed my life, the tether tying me to reality, and I refused to be ripped from him.
“You carry a piece of my heart. Whatever happens in there, that will always be yours.”
Knowing that my world would shift, my heart would shatter, and he still made that choice to leave me in the dark. Because that was what it was—a choice. One that took away my own autonomy and set rage curdling in my gut.
All meaningless letters strung together in words of false sentiment.
If you have truly lived, when you join the stars, the dying will not seem as scary.”
