“For every day my heart beats, I’m yours. My heart, my soul—it’s all yours.” “I’m yours,” I repeated. His lips brushed mine. “I will love you until the stars stop shining.”
“You are brighter than this, Ophelia. Meant to be a shining star among us. But since he left, your light has dimmed.”
Then, I lifted my chin, a faint breeze gracing my cheeks, and inhaled the possibilities on the wind.
Tasting the freedom on the air and following the call of the wind.
I thought I had escaped the shadow of fury that followed me, but it was like an old friend lying in wait.
The ropes fell from my wrists. Her eyes widened, and I smiled sweetly. “Oops,” I whispered, before raising a fist and bringing it firmly against her jaw. The echoing crunch was satisfying, but I could hardly appreciate it before the room around us erupted.
“If you’re angry, then take it out on me,” he commanded, coiling a hand in my hair and pulling my head back to look at him. “But I’ll love you until the stars stop shining.”
