Daunet gave her a funny look, furrowing her brows as if she didn’t understand. Meg leveled the same look on Lucy, and in less than an instant, Lucy’s blue eyes hardened.
The man from before, Nuphan, was in front of them again. “If it’s a matter of attraction, I’m sure I could see past your baldness.”
“Why didn’t you hit them?” Daunet’s glare flashed to Meg. Meg crossed her arms over her chest. “I’ve never hit anyone before, and did you see them? They were made of rock. Sophia freaking broke her hand trying to hit them.”
The human said her male had only initially recognized her, but she described someone who looked like you. Your dark hair. Your build.
The sob she released on a breath had Maxu’s throat going dry. “The Queen is dead.”
