“I would advise you not to come so close,” she muttered, shoulders tensing under the weight of my gaze. “Or what?” I challenged. When her eyes blinked open, the dark pupils narrowed on me. She closed the scant inches between us, her nose grazing my temple. “Or you’ll find yourself face down in the sand with your pretty ass in the air. And you’ll like it.”
Wait. If they were preoccupied with this futile task… I slowly edged away, barely glancing behind to see where I was going as I tracked the two Alphas with my eyes. They became smaller and smaller as I moved into the forest as slowly as I could, letting the foliage take me. Within minutes, I found myself running for the sandy beach again,
While Jaid, on the other hand… Well, I doubted ‘piece of shit’ could be considered an endearment anyway.
“Good morning, Jaid,” she murmured against me as she pulled away, pressing her lips to the tip of my nose, my forehead, my cheeks. “You pleased me very much last night.”
I was hopelessly, unbearably in love with that obstinate omega, and I hated that she’d never, ever feel the same.
“You smell like me.” When she glanced up, her eyes were wide and glimmering with such wonder that breathing became a foreign concept. “You smell like mine.”
“That’s a good decision, little omega,” she soothed, deft fingers holding me still at the base of my neck. “Now tell me how many there are.” “Th-three,” I confessed, eyes slipping shut to savor the easy, familiar way she held me. The proud, pleased rumble was not lost on me. “On your first try? You amaze me, Jaid.”
I turned back to Thea, who was already wrapped up in Zanny’s world, sniffing at the pup’s head like it was a special kind of drug. She gazed at the little omega like she was her whole world. It was becoming increasingly obvious that Thea had a favorite, and it was that little girl with a shock of red hair and swirling hazel eyes.
