Kennedy does find some contemporary Black allies who cosign his pitch, but this narrow and self-serving view of Black liberation efforts in the field of public health erases a nuanced history. We never hear from Kennedy, for example, about how in the 1970s the Black Panthers made access to free, evidence-based health care a pillar of their revolutionary vision.
